You’ve seen the picture-perfect Seattle skyline on the postcards or in the magazines. Have you ever wondered where all those pictures are taken from? If I would venture a guess, it has got to be the beautiful Kerry Park in the Queen Anne neighborhood.

The view from the park is breathtaking. Not only you get a front-row seat to the view of downtown Seattle; you also get a view of Mount Rainier and Elliott Bay. On a nice beautiful day (read: not raining), you can even pack your bag for a nice afternoon picnic. The park is small and it’s pretty popular with both tourists and locals alike so crowd is something you might want to consider (late evening on a weeknight (day) might be a good time to visit to avoid the big crowd.)

So go ahead, pick the day, pack that picnic basket and bring your loved one to the park.

Maximilien – France Meets Pacific Northwest

This cozy French restaurant is located in Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market. It offers a taste of Paris with a view of Seattle. The view from the restaurant is one the most amazing view you will ever find in Seattle. You will be able to see Puget Sound, Elliott Bay, and the Olympic Mountains. On a nice summer day, you might opt for the deck seating outdoor. Getting a seat on a weekend can be tricky with the large number of out-of-town tourists flocking the market.

Happy hour is pretty popular with the local and runs from 4 – 10 pm in the summer. Happy hour menu includes escargots, Belgium fries, mussels, etc., at $ 2.95 per dish. A three-course Prix-fix is available on Sunday.

Most ingredients are locally produced. Brunch is served on the weekend. Dinner entrees include many seafood dishes such as baked natural salmon, seared Alaskan halibut, grilled ahi tuna, prawns, etc. Since I am not a seafood person, I went with the conservative beef tenderloin. Service is excellent. Wait staff are friendly and attentive.

Reservation is recommended. Although seating preference is on a first-come-first-serve basis, deck seating and window seating offer the best view in the house. The sunset view is amazing so you might take that into account before making your reservation.
